Economic developer Christa Wagner Vinson has more than fifteen years of experience helping regional and national nonprofits and state and local governments create innovative, community-led solutions that support quality jobs and drive sustainable growth.
In addition to her consultancy, Christa is a co-founder of NC Broadband Matters, the nonprofit coordinator of NC Hearts Gigabit, a digital campaign working to attract and support universally available, affordable, reliable, high-capacity Internet to network resilient local economies across North Carolina.
Previously, Christa helped launch and accelerate the Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster, a multi-sector initiative that catalyzed global recognition for the Research Triangle region of North Carolina’s clean technology sector. She helped define the scope and opportunity in cleantech for the region through original research with RTI International and as co-creator, with Zpryme, of the Energy Thought Summit: Research Triangle.
She is a former policy analyst with the North Carolina Department of Commerce, associate at SJF Institute, a positive-impact business accelerator in Durham, N.C. (where she co-authored the e-book, Employees Matter: Maximizing Company Value Through Workforce Engagement a case study compendium of the high-road labor practices of entrepreneurial firms), and Director of Government Relations for the N.C. chapter of a national environmental advocacy organization.
A Charlotte, N.C. native, Christa is a graduate of Davidson College and holds a master’s degree in city and regional planning from UNC-Chapel Hill.
